A recent customer brought in her PS5 after taking it to a competitor in Bryant for an HDMI port repair. Unfortunately, the repair was not done properly. After the botched repair the competitor claimed it was a motherboard problem rather than the HDMI port.

Thankfully, she came across one of my PS5 repair videos on social media and reached out. As a specialist in game console repairs, I have the tools and expertise to properly diagnose hardware issues—often without needing to open the console. In this case, I tested the HDMI port immediately and found a high likelihood that the previous repair had been done incorrectly.

That turned out to be exactly the case. The HDMI port installation was poorly executed, with visible signs of sloppy work. I removed the faulty port, installed a new one correctly, and had the console fully repaired and back in her son’s hands within an hour.

When it comes to your game console repairs, trust a specialist. Avoid wasting time and money on shops that don’t focus on this type of work. Your console deserves expert care—the first time.

I’ve shared a photo highlighting the botched HDMI repair that was improperly done. In the image on the left, you can see where the technician “bridged” the HDMI pins—these are the areas that appear bubbled or clumped together. I’ve circled the points where the pins should make clean, individual connections to the motherboard.

For comparison, the image on the right shows what a properly installed HDMI port looks like, with clean solder joints and precise alignment. This illustrates the importance of choosing a skilled and experienced technician for delicate console repairs.
